Kit Advertising

So I see some of the current Welsh Rugby Squad are upset over the WRU’s advertising of the new look Welsh Rugby Shirt. The 50 foot poster draped in a prominent position at the WRU Headquarters at the Millennium Stadium depicts the athletic body of Gavin Henson in the new shirt. I am sorry my friends but I see this as a clever piece of PR by the Welsh Rugby Union. Yes it has caused uproar among some:-

Jamie Roberts, I guess, is wary of his potential successor in the number 12 jersey in the build up to the World Cup and Adam Jones is spouting off on behalf of the Ospreys. “But if the truth be known,” as is often said by a famous Barry girl, it’s all about the shirt sales lads! I am sure the WRU in its infinite wisdom has triumphed in maximising the market, judging by the reaction of the National press and will poor some funds gratefully received back into the grass roots of the game. When Henson steps out of his comfort zone in Strictly Come Dancing he is sure to have a whole new fan base who will connect to the recent Poster pics.

Perhaps they should have dressed up Adam Jones or Jamie Roberts in the new shirt?!!! To be fair to Jamie, he could hold his own in the Next catalogue but I could not quite see Next dressing up the more rounded figure of Adam, let’s say!

Come on lads, forget the fact that Gavin has gone off to do his own thing for a bit and realise that some bad press can be good press. The product has now gone National because of it and a few more women may get their better halves to fork out the 80 quid in time for the Autumn Internationals. There’s just something about a Barry girl wearing a loose fitting Welsh Rugby shirt and a pair of jeans on International day and just a little bit tipsy!
